Motorola pulls custom Moto X engraving while it deals with quality control issues


One of the allures of the Moto X is the ability to customize the appearance of the device to your own specifications — even down to having your own message printed on the back of the phone (provided you adhere to Motorola's guidelines, of course). Unfortunately, it appears that etching individual messages on every customer's phone is proving more difficult than the company initially anticipated, and the quality from Motorola's beta tests did not meet its standards for a consumer product. As a result, Motorola has told Computerworld's J.R. Raphael that it will not be offering the feature to customers when the device becomes available for purchase this Friday, though it hopes to eventually provide consumers with the option soon.
