Boxee TV now supports DLNA streaming, 3D movie rentals

Boxee TV, the company's cloud-streaming DVR, has been updated to support the DLNA streaming standard. First noticed by GigaOm , the firmware update allows owners to stream music, movies, and photos from any other DLNA-enabled device over a local network. DLNA is a widely-supported standard — many devices include DLNA functionality out of the box, and there are plenty of apps available for Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.


The update also includes a number of bug fixes and some tweaks to the Boxee TV interface. At launch, users could only schedule recordings using the Boxee Cloud DVR website, but the convoluted process has been simplified with the addition of on-box DVR management. There's also a new TV guide,...
