Saturday Night Live recently lampooned Wes Anderson's films in a Halloween special sketch. The trailer — for a fake horror film called the Anderson-esque The Midnight Coterie of Sinister Intruders — was put together by the show's director of photography, Alex Buono. In a lengthy and illuminating blog post, Buono looks back on the creation of the trailer, explaining how years of Anderson appreciation helped the SNL team blend a kitschy horror tone with the director's signature color palettes, shot framing, and stop motion mice in just a few days to create a pitch-perfect parody.
