A new report suggests the popular chat client WhatsApp may be launching a web client. After months of rumors, today users spotted a live page at web.whatsapp.com, which encourages users to scan a QR code with their phone to log in, presumably as part of the process of syncing the desktop and mobile versions of the app. The existence of the site also plays into earlier rumors of a desktop expansion. After multiple tests, we were unable to log into the site, suggesting the service is not yet live. WhatsApp has not responded to a request for comment, but we will update with any statement.
