Facebook 'Spam King' pleads guilty after sending more than 27 million messages

Sanford Wallace, known as the "Spam King" after charges alleged he sent 27 million fraudulent Facebook messages, has plead guilty to fraud and criminal contempt charges, Bloomberg reports.

Wallace was under indictment since 2011, when the Department of Justice alleged he had compromised 500,000 real Facebook accounts through phishing spam sent in 2008 and 2009. Wallace also admitted during a hearing Monday to violating a court order banning him from Facebook, according to Bloomberg.

Wallace could now face three years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is set for December 7th.
