For years, the sex industry has been a driving force in technological innovation: it was porn that helped VHS conquer Betamax, and porn that laid the groundwork for online credit-card processing and e-commerce. Even as recently as 2008, the adult industry’s decision to adopt Blu-ray and abandon HD DVD was seen as a death knell for the latter format. With the advent of Ultra HD 4K — which will almost certainly be a driving topic at CES in less than two months' time — many are now wondering what sort of influence the adult industry will have on the technology, and vice versa.
