For months, Valve has been rumored to be working on a "Steam Box:" its own hardware specification for a PC gaming console that could compete with the Xbox and PlayStation in the living room. Since then, the company has left a trail of bread crumbs about its hardware ambitions, capped so far by Gabe Newell's admission that the company will release its own "tightly controlled" hardware.
