Apple issues fix for major security flaw on OS X


Apple has released an update to OS X that patches a vulnerability that left a number of apps open to man-in-the-middle attacks. The vulnerability was first detailed last Friday when Apple issued an update to iOS devices that both identified and resolved the security issue on mobile. Since then, security researchers discovered that the flaw was also active on Mac desktops and called for Apple to quickly release an update that would fix it. Just days later, it has — though it appears that the actual vulnerability may have been around months, if not longer, before now.


The security update is said to resolve the issue on both OS X Mavericks and Mountain Lion. On Mavericks, Apple is releasing the patch as part of a larger update to OS X...
