What would a terraforming machine look like? This short film imagines the process as a robotic ballet, in which a painstakingly detailed spacecraft gathers resources and reassembles itself to transform a Mars-like desert into a jungle. The spacecraft itself is inspired by the Mars rover, but incorporates biological touches like bug wings and larval sacs. A New Zealand animator worked for seven years to make the film, including post-production work from Peter Jackson's Weta Digital.
