Amazon's Game Center competitor expands beyond the Kindle Fire, can run on any Android device

Amazon introduced Whispersync for Games last year alongside its updated Kindle Fire hardware, promising game syncing and leaderboards that worked across multiple Kindle Fire devices. However, standard Android devices were left out, until now — a post on Amazon's mobile developer blog indicates that the GameCircle technology that powers Whispersync for Games can now be built into any game, not just ones built specifically for the Kindle Fire. While it isn't explicitly stated in the blog post, it looks like Whispersync for Games will only be supported in apps available through Amazon's third-party app store.
