The next Avengers film is going to benefit from the serious acting chops of James Spader. Marvel has just announced that Spader will assume the role of the titular villain Ultron in Joss Whedon's upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. Spader has an excellent pedigree, with three Emmy wins for his TV work as well as a number of critically-acclaimed film roles, but the Avengers sequel will mark his first foray into the superhero / comic book world. How exactly he'll portray Ultron is still in question, given that the character is a giant, metal-clad robot.
