Japan and Ukraine collaborate on satellites to monitor effects of nuclear disasters


Japan and the Ukraine are reaching an agreement to conduct a long-term study of the environmental effects of the Fukushima and Chernobyl nuclear incidents, launching eight miniature satellites into orbit to photograph the affected regions. During a trip to the Ukraine, Japan’s foreign minister Fumio Kishida told reporters that "we have agreed on cooperation in the space sector to monitor the regions surrounding Chernobyl and Fukushima," reports the AFP.
