Redbox Instant video service arrives on Roku

Verizon’s Redbox Instant streaming video and DVD rental service is coming to the Roku family of set-top boxes. The company announced today that anyone with a recent Roku player (2, 3, HD, LT, or Streaming Stick) will be able to stream some 5,500 movies and reserve physical discs (680 titles) for pickup at Redbox’s signature kiosks. The service runs $8 a month, or $9 if you want Blu-rays.


The announcement adds to Redbox's existing stable of supported platforms, including iOS, Android, the Xbox 360, and LG and Samsung smart TVs.
