Time Warner Cable and CBS battle over retransmission fees as customers face service blackout


In what's become a common negotiation tactic, Time Warner Cable shut off access to CBS this August after the two parties failed to reach an agreement on retransmission fees. Cable and satellite providers have long paid such fees to distribute network channels to their customers even though such stations are available for free over the air.
