HBO is bringing a new detective drama onto the air next year, and the network has released a dark new trailer to introduce it to viewers. The show, True Detective, will star Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as detectives for its first season — but, like series such as American Horror Story, subsequent seasons will revolve around a new set of characters and a new mystery, rather than continuing the initial plot. The show kicks off as a murder from 1995 comes back under investigation in 2002, and will follow the pair of detectives across different timelines.
