New Apple TV revealed by FCC won't be smaller, will only contain minor component change

Yesterday, an FCC filing for a new Apple TV model appeared to show off a smaller case, but The Verge has learned that there's no redesign forthcoming. Despite what it says on the FCC image, the new Apple TV model will be identical in size and indistinguishable from the current one, outside of a new model number. The new model only contains a minor component change and shouldn't be mistaken as a new, "fourth-generation" Apple TV — it'll function (and look) exactly like the current model. The only way people will know the difference is if they check the model number, or crack the device open and check the components out themselves.
