Intel names Brian Krzanich as CEO to succeed Paul Otellini

Less than six months after Paul Otellini announced he would step down from the position after 40 years at the company, Intel has named Brian Krzanich as its sixth CEO. Krzanich, who previously served as Intel's chief operating officer from January 2012, will step into the role on May 16th. Intel's board also elected Renée James to become its new president, commencing her duties on the same day.


Krzanich will be tasked with leading Intel's 50,000 employees, helping the company flesh out its mobile strategy and drive the company into new markets — which include the release of a new internet-connected TV platform.
