In June, artist and Vice columnist Molly Crabapple took a trip to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, to cover the pretrial hearings of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. But she came back with a larger piece called "It Don't Gitmo Better Than This," that combines her writing and inky illustrations into an engrossing account of her time at one of the world's most notorious prisons. Crabapple's column captures the odd reality of 166 men — many of whom haven't been charged with a crime and 68 who are on a hunger strike — being imprisoned yards away from a Subway and a McDonald's.
