Author of 'This Machine Kills Secrets' shares insight on WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, and cypherpunks

Andy Greenberg authored This Machine Kills Secrets in an attempt to better understand those who leak crucial government secrets. In a new Q&A with The New York Times , Greenberg expands on elements touched on in the book, such as his take on WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, the strange relationships between different hacktivists, and a large Bank of America leak that never materialized. Despite the rise of similar organizations dedicated to leaking sensitive material, Greenberg ultimately notes such sites can’t succeed without both the technological know-how and a trusted figurehead at the helm.
