Hot Tub Time Machine 2: the choose-your-own-adventure review


The original Hot Tub Time Machine was the story of four guys who travel back to the ‘80s and get a chance at "fixing" their disappointing lives. The humor was stupid-funny, buoyed by an ever-present undercurrent of self-awareness. With a name like Hot Tub Time Machine, how could it not?

This time around, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (in theaters starting today) eschews the sentimental narrative altogether for a frenetic, bombastic, "dudebro sci-fi" movie.
